極真空手とは About Kyokushin Karate

sosai「千日をもって初心とし、万日をもって極みとする」という武道の格言から発した名称。
完成はないと言われるほどの、厳しく険しい武道の神髄を極める意で、創始者は今や伝説的な存在となった地上最強の武道家、大山倍達。
若き日より拳法を学び、1947年戦後初の全日本空手道選手権大会で優勝して以来、
山籠もりや闘牛との対決、アメリカをはじめ世界各地での武者修行など、数々の逸話を残す。
世界120ヵ国、1200万人の門弟の総裁としてその生涯を極真空手に捧げた。

Kyokushin Karate was named by an aphorism “A thousand days to be a beginner, and ten thousand days to be a master”.
Masutatsu Oyama, who was the strongest martial artist in the world, created Kyokushin Karate.
He had learned Kenpo since his childhood, and he took first prize in the Japan Karate Championship for the first time after the Second World War in 1947.
After that, he made many anecdotes, which he did a long-time training in the mountain, did a match with a bullfight, did a lot of ascetic trainings in the world and so on.
Also, he had twelve million disciples in 120 countries worldwide, and he dedicated his life to Kyoushin Karate.
